COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Writers will be guided through developing a feature-length screenplay from seed, through extensive outlining, and into polished Act One. They will explore industry standard formatting, story structure, scene and sequence development, tone, relevance of theme, creating believable character (s) and relationships, all while strategizing where their project might fit in the current marketplace.

With Steve's guidance, writers will build a story blueprint using a combination of lectures, visual presentations, analytical discussion, screenplay analysis and extensive writing designed to develop the individual writer's voice.

NOTE FOR FIRST CLASS: Come prepared to PITCH TWO feature film loglines. Your pitches should give a clear, concise, two or three-sentence answer to the questions “Who is your protagonist? Where is the story set? What is the antagonistic force? What is the central crisis?”
